Our Production Area
Mankind has worked hard to develop materials that provide benefits not found in natural products from the earliest times. The development of plastic materials started with the use of natural materials (such as chewing gum, shellac) with the properties of plastic, and then continued with the development of chemically modified natural materials (such as rubber, nitrocellulose, collagen, galalite). Finally, 100 years ago, fully synthetic materials that we know as modern plastics began to be developed. Probably the first example of this is the substance Alexander Parkes invented in 1855, the substance we know today as celluloid but named parquetin. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was first polymerized between 1838 and 1872, and an important turning point occurred when Leo Baekeland created the first real synthetic, mass-produced plastic, bakelite, in 1907.
